Dissemination Meeting on Human Trafficking in Suaman District

Codesult Network and Free World International have been undertaking a baseline study on the Human Trafficking project called “Improving the Capacity of Stakeholders to Respond to Human Trafficking cases in vulnerable and At-Risk communities in Ghana’s Western and Western north regions”. Specifically, the project is being implemented in Amenfi West Municipal, Aowin Municipal and Suaman District.

Suaman District on 1st August, 2023 from 9am to 12 noon held a dissemination meeting on Human trafficking at the District Assembly Hall.

General Assembly Meeting, 2023

A General Assembly meeting was held on the 31st July, 2023 at the District’s Assembly Hall. The Hon. DCE (Philip Kwabena Boahen), DCD (Emmanuel Kwame Fiebor), PM (Hon. Stephenson Tandoh), Assembly Members and some staff of the District assembly were present.  The meeting started at exactly 9:00am with a word of prayer. The presiding member gave his welcome address and there was reading, correction and acceptance of the previous minutes. Presentations were made on the District Chief Executive’s sectional address and executive committee report.

On Monday, 24th July, 2023 at the District Assembly Hall, the Internal Audit of the Suaman District Assembly held it 2nd Audit committee meeting of the year at exactly 10:00am.

Green Ghana Project, 2023

As part of efforts to preserve the forest cover of the country, 11th June, 2021 was declared as National Tree Planting Campaign day. In line with this, a tree planting exercise has been scheduled to take place nationwide on Friday, 9th June 2023, at 8:00am throughout the nation.

The Suaman District led by Hon. DCE (Philip Kwabena Boahen) together with some dignitaries in the district planted some trees to mark this memorable day. The exercise took place at the Dadieso Senior High School. Present in this event were the Hon. DCE, DCD, Nananom, Religious leaders, Security Forces, Health Service, Education Service, SUADA staff etc.

Final Training on DLrev System

On Tuesday 16th May, 2023 to 17th May 2023, there was a two-day training session at the District Assembly on the use of the DLrev system. The facilitators Akwasi Amoako from the RCC and Mr. Bentum from the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Assembly. The training was conducted for the following departments and unit; Central Administration, Budget, Internal Audit, Finance, Planning, Revenue collectors Physical planning and MIS.

Monitoring and visitation by HON. AUGUSTINE COLLINS NTIM (MP, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development) to SUADA

A team from the Ministry Led by the Deputy Minister, Hon. Augustine Collins Ntim,  on Tuesday, 18th April, 2023 paid a monitoring visit to the Suaman District Assembly (SUADA) to monitor the level of implementation of the Assembly’s Local Economic Development (LED), Ghana Productive Safety Net (GPNSP), PERD, DCACT activities and all other Government Flagship projects, and also to pick up issues that are affecting the smooth implementation of the programme.

 

All heads of the Decentralized Department, Agriculture, Health and Education gave a power point presentation on their activities to the Deputy Minister during his visit.

Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) Training For Administrative Data Compilation

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) partnered the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF), The German Development Cooperation (GIZ), The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), AND THE Ministry of Local Government Decentralization and Rural Development (MLGDRD) AND THE Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) to support selected MMDAs to compile administrative data.

The data is expected to provide inputs into the 2023 Annual Progress Reports of the MMDAs as well as their 2024 Annual work programmes.

The GSS and the NDPC as part of this effort, reviewed the selected MMDAs Medium Term Development plans (2022-2025) and 2021 Annual Progress report (APRs) that informed the development of administrative data template to guide the District Statistical Officers and other Officers in the data compilation. To the effect, a team from RCC conducted a 2-day training programme for some selected officers in the District.

As part of its goal to institutionalize administrative data collection and use at the MMDA level, the GSS will donate one Laptop Computer each to the District Statistical Department for the selected MMDAs.
