SOD- Cutting of Developmental Projects

On 13th December 2025, the Hon. District Chief Executive (DCE), Vasco Obour, together with the District Assembly, performed a sod-cutting ceremony to mark the commencement of awarded development projects in the District. The ceremony took place at Suiaboi, a suburb within the District. Present at the ceremony were the Hon. District Chief Executive (Vasco Obour), clergy, Nananom, NDC party executives, security personnel, staff of the District Assembly, and the general public.

The projects for which sod was cut included:

Construction of one (1) 2-Unit Classroom Block at Dadieso
Construction of one (1) CHPS Compound at Suiaboi
Construction of one (1) 3-Unit Classroom Block at Taylorkrom
Drilling and mechanisation of ten (10) boreholes
Construction of one (1) 6-Unit Classroom Block at Karlo
Construction of one (1) CHPS Compound at Suibo–Doctormu

Spatial Planning- Committee Meeting

On Tuesday, 25th November 2025, the District Assembly held a Spatial Planning Committee meeting to inaugurate and swear in committee members. The meeting commenced at 8:30 a.m. with a welcome address by the Secretary, Emmanuel Jnr. Mensah-Aggrey, followed by the introduction of members present.

The Hon. DCE, Vasco Obour, the Magistrate for the Enchi District Court, Lawrence Buenor Buer, his Court Clerk, Sylvester Kwarteng, and committee members were in attendance. The Magistrate led the swearing-in ceremony, during which he outlined the responsibilities of the committee and administered the Official Oath, Oath of Allegiance, and Oath of Secrecy to a ten-member committee.

After the ceremony, a group photograph was taken, after which the Magistrate departed for Sefwi Akontombra to conduct a similar exercise.

Training on Smartworkplace

A training session on the Smart Workplace Portal was held on Monday 13th October, 2025 at the District Assembly Hall. The session, facilitated by two representatives from the Local Government Service (LGS) and an MIS Officer from the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), aimed to equip staff with practical knowledge of the platform, including e-Leave processing, document and correspondence management, virtual communication, and workflow automation.

On 15th July 2025, the District Assembly convened a meeting to deliberate on and finalize the 2025 Mid-Year Review Budget (Draft) and address other pertinent matters. The meeting was held in the District Assembly Conference Room, commencing promptly at 10:00 a.m.

Monitoring of MMDAs Composite Budget Implementation

A team from the Ministry of Finance paid a working visit to the Suaman District Assembly on Thursday, 5th June 2025, at 12:00 p.m. The meeting took place in the Conference Hall of the District Assembly. The purpose of the engagement was to monitor and assess the implementation of the District’s Composite Budget for the 2024 fiscal year and the first quarter of 2025.

2025 1st Quarter DPCU

On the 8th Day of May, 2025, the District assembly held a DPCU meeting at the District Assembly’s conference Hall at exactly 10:00am. The commenced with an opening prayer and the District Coordinating Director (DCD), Mr. Emmanuel Kwame Fiebor who chairs the committee welcomed members to the First Quarter DPCU meeting for 2025. He expressed appreciation for their attendance and encouraged members to participate fully to ensure a productive and successful session. The District Planning Officer, Mr. Ernest Yankson, presented the key guidelines for preparing the 2026–2029 Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP). His presentation covered the following topics:

Definition and purpose of a Medium-Term Development Plan
Key features and objectives of the MTDP
Legal and institutional arrangements for plan preparation and implementation
Composition of the plan preparation team
Roles and responsibilities of heads of departments and agencies
The sequence and timeline for the MTDP preparation process
Integration of cross-cutting and emergency development themes
Outline of the plan structure and chapter organization

Following the presentation, members engaged in a discussion and asked questions for clarification. The DPO assured the house that he would submit the budget for the MTDP preparation for approval after the meeting.

The various Heads of Departments also presented briefly on their departmental reports, followed by other matters and adjournment of meeting at exactly 3:04pm with a closing prayer

Confirmation of DCE Nominee

On Thursday, 10th April, the nominated District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Suaman Dadieso District, Hon. Obour Vasco, was officially confirmed through an electoral process conducted by the Electoral Commission.

The confirmation ceremony was honoured by the presence of the Regional Minister, Hon. Wilbert Petty Brentum, the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Emmanuel K. Fiebor, members of the traditional council (Nananom), the clergy, Assembly Members, staff of the District Assembly, representatives of the security services, and members of the general public.

All Assembly Members and government appointees were in attendance and participated in the voting process. The election concluded successfully, with a unanimous endorsement—100% of the votes cast in favour of confirming Hon. Obour Vasco as the District Chief Executive.

Following the successful vote, Hon. Obour Vasco was officially sworn into office by the Regional Minister, Hon. Wilbert Petty Brentum. After the swearing-in ceremony, he was driven through the Dadieso township in a symbolic procession, allowing citizens to join in celebrating his achievement and confirmation as District Chief Executive.

68th Independence Day Celebration

Ghana attained independence on 6th March 1957, a historic milestone which is commemorated annually across the nation. The 2025 National Independence Day celebration was held at the forecourt of the Presidency under the leadership of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana.

In line with the national event, the Suaman District also observed the occasion with a colourful march‑past parade involving school children. The celebration was attended by several dignitaries, including the Member of Parliament for the Suaman Constituency, Hon. Frederick Addy; the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Emmanuel K. Fiebor; members of the clergy; traditional leaders (Nananom); personnel from the security services; teachers; students; and members of the general public.

Prior to the commencement of the parade, the Member of Parliament, Hon. Frederick Addy, delivered a speech highlighting the significance of the day and encouraging the youth to uphold the values of patriotism, unity, and hard work. His address was followed by remarks from the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Emmanuel K. Fiebor, who urged students to strive for academic excellence and contribute positively to the development of the district.

The parade, held at the D/A Basic School Park, featured approximately 500 students drawn from various schools in the district. The march‑past added vibrancy and excitement to the celebration, making it a memorable occasion for all participants.

The event concluded with the presentation of awards to the best‑performing schools in the parade, as well as to students who excelled in the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Visitation of Hon. Regional Minister to Suaman District

On the Friday 21st of February, 2025, the Regional Minister for the Western North Region, Hon. Wilbert Petty Brentum, paid a courtesy visit to the traditional authorities and the Suaman District Assembly. This visit aimed to officially introduce the Regional Minister to the traditional authorities and government agencies to foster collaboration. The intention was to interact with various agencies to understand their challenges and explore how best to address them, thereby enhancing collaboration between the Regional Coordinating Council and the various stakeholders.

The visit was in two sections: a meeting with the Nananom (traditional authorities) and a meeting with the Suaman District Assembly, where the Regional Minister also served as the acting Chief Executive of the District.

His first visit was with the Namanom. There, Honourable Minister engaged with the traditional authorities to discuss how to address the challenges faced within the district. The traditional authorities highlighted several issues, including:

– The need for road construction

– Maintaining peace and security along the district’s boundary

– Requests for tertiary institutions in the district

– Challenges associated with regulating galamsey operations

In response, the Regional Minister expressed his appreciation for the traditional authorities’ support following his appointment and promised to address all the challenges highlighted by the end of his tenure.

The second segment of the visit involved a meeting with staff and department heads within the district. The purpose of this meeting was to promote collaboration between the Regional Coordinating Council and the government agencies operating within the district.

During the discussion, the staff expressed their willingness to support the Regional Minister in achieving his goals and shared some operational challenges they were facing. These challenges included:

– Upgrading the office complex for the Immigration Office

– Staff shortages in the district

– The need for logistics to enhance operations within the security services

– Allowances for field officers to support their community visits

– Enhancements in agricultural mechanization to improve production and manage post-harvest losses

– Telecommunication challenges within the district

The Regional Minister acknowledged the scarcity of government resources in addressing all the issues raised. He emphasized that efficient management of resources would yield optimal benefits for the various agencies in tackling their challenges. He assured everyone present that he would collaborate with the Ministry of Communication to address communication issues and that staff shortages in the various agencies would be addressed—along with the other challenges—by the end of his tenure as Regional Minister.

40th Farmers’ Day Celebration, 2024

Farmers’ Day Celebration is one of the major events in the National Calendar which is used to acknowledge and reward our gallant farmers and fisher folks whose toils and labour feeds the Nation’s growing population, and provides the necessary raw materials for our industries, export markets thus promoting the economic development of the Nation.This year District Farmers’ Day Theme “Building Climate – Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security’’ is apt, as can be justified by recent changes in climate and weather patterns across the entire nation for that matter Suaman District.

Commencing the program, names of nominated farmers by the agricultural extension agents were submitted to the department for vetting in the various in the various categories namely; District Best overall Farmer, District Best Crop Farmer, District Best Youth Farmer, District Best Woman farmer, District Best Aquaculture Farmer, District Best Extension Agent, and District Best Backyard Farmer

The inspection and screening team comprising subject matter specialist from the various units of the District Department of Agriculture and other unit heads of the Assembly started the farms inspections on the 23^rd October to the 28^th November 2024, across the district.

Speech by District Director of Agriculture

The District Director of Agriculture thanked and congratulated all farmers for their efforts in feeding the district. He especially congratulated all award winners, and stated that these award winners have achieved this feat because they are in close contact with the Agricultural Extension Agents. He further explained on the aptness of the theme for the farmers’ day celebration as can be attested by everyone that the weather and climate patterns have changed and so farmers should readjust their production methodologies to suit the climatic changes to sustain food security.

He advice farmers to take advantage of the PFJ 2.0 where farmers are registered and could buy inputs online and pay with the produce from their farms. He further stated that, the district has so far registered about 1130 farmers in the district, and admonish farmers who have not, registered on the Ghaap to do so.

In his welcome address he thanked Nananom and the general public for coming to the 40^th District Farmers’ Day celebration at DA Methodist School Park and congratulated all the award winners. He spoke on the successes of the government in creating employment for the populace in areas or communities like Dadieso, Gyampokrom, Kwabena Nartey, Badu Nyamebekyere, Kwasuo, Akwabentano, and Fanoma. He further stated the assistance the Assembly has given to farmers to support the planting for export and Rural Development coconut, oil palm seedlings were distributed to farmers. He also stated that the government deserve some congratulations for the provision of four motor bikes and a vehicle to the Agric department for the enhancement of extension delivery.

In order to motivate farmers to produce more and encourage other farmers too, award items were presented to the well-deserved award winners for their toils and efforts in feeding the district and for that matter the Country.

In her speech the overall district best Farmer admonish her colleague farmers to get closer to the Agric Extension Agents for Advice. She said there is much benefits in farming and it is a turning point to richness. She further thanked the District Chief Executive, Nananom as well as the Agric staff, for the honour given her and promised to work harder to achieve further laurels.
